official synopsis: Renée Winters was still an ordinary girl. She spent her summers at the beach, had the perfect best friend, and had just started dating the cutest guy at school. No one she'd ever known had died. But all that changes when she finds her parents dead in the Redwood Forest, in what appears to be a strange double murder.

After the funeral Renée’s wealthy grandfather sends her to Gottfried Academy, a remote and mysterious boarding school in Maine, where she finds herself studying subjects like Philosophy, Latin, and the “Crude Sciences.”

It’s there that she meets Dante Berlin, a handsome and elusive boy to whom she feels inexplicably drawn. As they grow closer, unexplained things begin to happen, but Renée can’t stop herself from falling in love. It’s only when she discovers a dark tragedy in Gottfried’s past that she begins to wonder if the Academy is everything it seems.

Little does she know, Dante is the one hiding a dangerous secret, one that has him fearing for her life.

This book just screamed brilliance from it shelf  from the first moment i just felt a force pull to it and just knew i had to read it.I have read lots of paranormal books, but this one was different and unique, this was not just because it didn't involve vampire, werewolf or fairies but a completely new atmosphere to the supernatural  world. However, by looking at the mixed reviews on amazon, twitter , goodreads ect i started to get  feelings like a roller coaster ride.

once i finished this book i was blown away by the strong and provoking  story line of DEAD BEAUTIFUL. furthermore, i do believe that the bad reviews on amazon and good reads were not  giving justice to the incredible story line but  they were telling the truth about the giving description of the character like Dante being a god and Renée being just an "average girl . while its an average size book with and "average " main character within every page you fine a way to relate to the emotions of the character and will make scream at the shocking events on every page.

There where a couple of annoying things about this book like the  the characters none of them had any flaws. Take Dante Berlin. He get described as a "god". So how the what is annoying is how can a girl like Renée when she is described as an "average girl"? This situation just made me thing get over yourself Woon,  there was no flaws given to this character, he was perfect inside and outside.  How unrealistic is these characters? You can be sexy and hot and damn right gorgeous, but with no flaws?sorry, but if that happened i would be shocked . Then  you had  the main character Renee saying something like, "And I liked him for all his flaws - it made him that much more real." what flaws ? they had to be invisible  cause nothing was explained really at first with Dante.

Yovnne Woon  did an amazing job with this book.  Even after looking at the flaws it still is a brilliant book to read if you can handle the mystery and the annoyances of not know whats going to happen and if you can over look on how the characters act. If you like late night shivers this is a book for you !
